In September 2009, Siki Im introduced his first collection. He has won the Ecco Domani award, the Samsung Design & Fashion Fund, the Vilcek Prize, and the Woolmark Prize. Im also works on films, architecture, furniture, music, and art, and has taught fashion design and studio at the MFA and BFA program at Parsons School of Fashion.

Statement

Siki Im takes an anthropological approach to design that is based in the intersections of culture, theory, and psychology. Through a consistent study of progressors of social movements and originators of cultural developments, he creates a physical representation of his studies though his collections. Each collection centers on a theme (from immigrants and xenophobia, the Arab Spring, human versus technology to The Lord of the Flies or The Outsiders), which Im researches in depth to build into a collection of structured, draped, and often unisex pieces.

His fashion labels SIKI IM, SIKI IM / DEN IM, and SIKI IM CROSS are currently sold worldwide. Im continues to expand his design, product and cultural reach by growing distribution of his current apparel collections and accessories as well as working on other outlets such as films, architecture, furniture, homegoods, music, and art.

Siki Im’s work has been published in numerous publications, books and TV.
